I have always wanted to embroider patches. It just sounds fun..no idea why. So I found this place (Coleman & Company) online to buy what is called 'patch fabric' which gives it the look being embroidered. I didn't want any patches though, I wanted iron on patches, and Coleman and Company offers iron on material. Awesome.
So you are sewing the design on the fabric, then using a low heat wood burning tool, cutting/melting away the edges.
My mom wants to make patches to put onto blankets to give her grandchildren when they turn 8 years old. She calls them Baptism Comforters. I thought it was a pretty cute idea.
So my first attempts didn't go so welll...
In this pic I burned the edges and other mistakes so it just looks pretty bad.
But practice makes perfect. So I practiced and practiced.
And even though I am far from perfecting this skill, I have been improving.
Ahh, nicer looking edges.
I love patches!
