Self Binding Minky Blanket

My mom bought this fabric to make a baby blanket for my brother and sister-in-law who just had a little boy....who is now 6 months old. I decided to just finish it for her because I know how busy she is. She had bought enough to make a cute self binding blanket. 
I am debating embroidering his name on it but I am going to wait to see if that is what my mom wants to do.
