Welcome to My Embroidery Hobby!

Hello! Welcome to my blog. This is the place where I do a little of a lot. I am not really fantastic at one thing or hobby, only okay at a bunch of little things. But that is what makes it fun! I am also a major copycat crafter. I find things I like and then make my own, I rarely come up with good ideas on my own. So Thank You to all you crafters out there who give me great ideas and projects to do!

Christmas Stockings

My grandma (we call her Mawmaw) sews these incredible stockings for everyone in the family. All children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. I absolutely love them. They are a kit you can buy and are hand sewn. Most of them have many many sequins on them which are individually sewn on. She is incredible.
So I hesitate to actually use them as our Christmas stockings that we stuff. My mom did this for a few years when I was growing up and the stockings became frail and worn looking very easily. So I decided that these would be the ones we would hang and I would make a separate set which we would only use on Christmas morning.
I know, I know. I still need to put Grant and Emma's name on their stockings...hopefully next year as they are already packed away now.

There is one for each of us. I even completed little Emma's before she was born on the 21st. Yae for not procrastinating that one. I only have Grant, Daddy, and Michele's pictured, but Emma and I do indeed have ours.

And what fun are stockings without some personalization? So I added a little ornament applique embellishment on each stocking.
I like these stockings because they have a lining which makes them more durable for the many years ahead. The pattern was super easy and you can pump one of these out from start to finish in less than 30 minutes. I found the tutorial here. She doesn't give an actual pattern PDF or anything, I just used the stockings we already had for a pattern and I actually added about an inch to the width to give more room for the stocking stuffing supplies. :)
Merry Christmas!
